[comp.databases] System from Hell...

dp22+@andrew.cmu.edu (David Bruce Pinkus) (05/09/89)

Hi all.

Well this semester I learned Normal Forms, SQL, and neat other things,
but I also learned (regrettably) how to write a really bad system.
Complete Ad Hoc creation and data integrity just don't match, and it's
a bad idea to have the same form to add, modify and delete information (at
least it was tough for me.)

So, as I want to use this as a LEARNING experience (isn't college
great?) I was wondering if somebody could point me in the direction of
some books or literature regarding form design conventions and algorithms?
Also, sorry Alexis but FoxBase Mac is difficult to learn.. Once you
get going it's pretty good, but there are still some features (like better
control over mac-interface conventions) that it lacks, but I'm ready
to upgrade to 2.0 when It's out.

Thanks to everybody (especially Alexis) for helping me with my
Foxbase questions, and this summer and next year I'll write some
really good systems,

Dave.
