[comp.databases] Information sought on Distributed Databases

I am looking into the possible use of a distributed database over a local 
network of 286/386 machines.  However, I am having some trouble finding any
information on distributed databases at all, let alone for a specific 
application.  I need to get copies of any papers/articles on the subjec, with 
emphasis on object oriented processing.  I would also appreciate any 
information on currnetly available distributed databases.  Please reply by
