[comp.databases] dBASE IV Help

atieu@skat.usc.edu (Anthony Tieu) (06/08/89)

I have created a report on dBASE IV to be printed on an HP LaserJet Series II.
When I printed out the report, only the first word on each line is
bold. It prints fine on the screen.

Is it the printer driver?

Help!!

Thanks
Anthony Tieu

it could be the known-buggy REPORT.GEN file that was distributed with the
original release of dbaseIV. (LABEL.GEN is also buggy!)

you should try using the new REPORT.GEN file before tearing your hair
out. it fixes alot of the wierd stuff going on in report writing.

the file "rep_anom.arc" is available to you via anonymous ftp from
cica.cica.indiana.edu (129.79.18.18). it is located in the pub/pc
subdirectory.

the .arc file contains the following:

Filename	Length Method Size Ratio Date Time CRC
-------- ------ ------ ------ ----- ---- ---- ---
REPORT.COD 50209 Squashed 20898 59% 04-13-89 11:17:20 8AA1
REPORT.GEN 34486 Crunched 24499 29% 05-01-89 09:01:10 C6CD
---- ------ ------ -----
0002 84695 45397 47%

also available (in the same place) is lbl_anom.arc that contains:

Filename	Length Method Size Ratio Date Time CRC
-------- ------ ------ ------ ----- ---- ---- ---
LABEL.COD 20715 Squashed 9065 57% 04-13-89 11:11:16 67DD
LABEL.GEN 14465 Crunched 10557 28% 05-01-89 09:01:32 EF5C
---- ------ ------ -----
0002 35180 19622 45%

these are the most recently-updated files from ashton-tate's bulletin
board.

lastly, db4anomaly.zoo, that contains ashton-tate's official dbaseIV
"anomaly" files, is also available in the same directory. the .zoo
file contains ANOMALY1.TXT through ANOMLY11.TXT (the most recent).
