                        Call for Papers

                   Advanced Database Symposium

Sponsored by the SIG on Database Systems of
the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ)

Science Center Building, Kyoto Research Park
                   Kyoto, Japan, Dec.7-8, 1989

Recently, much attention has been focussed on the research and
development of the next-generation database system technology.
Especially, many of these activities are concerned with:
(a)extending the DBMS functionalities for non-traditional
applications, (b)providing rich modeling capability with DBMSs,
(c)providing multimedia-data handling facilities with DBMSs,
(d)integration of hypermedia and DBMS technologies,
(e)integration of database systems, programming languages and
knowledge base systems.

The Advanced Database Symposium is held every year, and sponsored
by the Special Interest Group on Database Systems of the
Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ). This symposium is
to bring together researchers, practitioners, and users concerned
with issues in advanced database management.

This year, the symposium will be held just after the 1st
International Conference on Deductive and Object-Oriented
Databases (DOOD89) (Dec.4-6, 1989), at the same place. We expect
that this symposium will also offer an opportunity for the
discussion and interchange of information concerned with advanced
database systems for the international database people. Papers
will be presented in English on December 7 and in Japanese on
December 8, respectively.
