I've been watching the discussion on normalization and would like to point out that Donovan Hsieh and Larry Rowe are both correct IMHO in pointing out that it is sometimes necessary to denormalize for peformance reasons. There are two new books out in 1989 that I did not see posted and again IMHO are some of the best books on these issues. They are: _Handbook of Relational DataBase Design_ by Candace Fleming and Barbara Von Halle and _DB-2 Design and Development Guide_ by Gabrielle Wiorkowski and David Krull They are both published by Addison Wesley.
