I need some information on the programming interface to Sybase's and ORACLE's backends. Do these products use ANSI Embedded SQL (within C programs) ? Also, we'll be using a client/server architecture over several platforms. These platforms (in short) will be: - UNIX database server and PC-DOS workstation - OS/2 server and PC-DOS workstation We want to write our applications in Microsoft C on the PCs, using embedded SQL to access the data on the database server. We know that the UNIX server/PC workstation will work this way under RTI Ingres. Does ORACLE or Sybase work the way we want (C/ESQL on the client, accessing data on the server) under either of these platforms ? We especially want to have the ESQL interface to the database from the client so that our code will be more portable and more convenient to write and less idiosyncratic than procedure call interfaces to the database.
