[comp.databases] speed:CISAM vs Ingres

sr16+@andrew.cmu.edu (Seth Benjamin Rothenberg) (09/07/89)

My department will soon be switching from TI 990's (which have good indexed
files to support our in-house database software) to a unix mchine, possibly
not offering such support by default. Has anyone had any experience with
CISAM or with using RTI Ingres on high-throughput databases?
We expect to have 200 terminals, with databases as large as 2,000,000 x 2,000.

Thanks

If you are interested in getting good performance on a large, high volume RDBMS,
you should really consider Sybase.
It's fast, it's powerful, and it runs on many UNIX platforms.
Needless to say, I could go on. But let me give you a phone number instead:
