Mike, I agree with you about this traffic. This priviliged 'more' thing has become a sub-list unto itself. The sad thing is that it isn't a 'wizard' question, it's a silly little applications programming questions that a mildly knowledgeable unix programmer could have answered in two seconds (ie. either don't use MORE or make sure you setuid() the user before exec'ing or equivalent.) On the other hand, the temptation is great (did I answer it, I don't even remember now.) With little questions like this I think the correct response is to send directly to the SENDER and let them summarize if there is interest (or mail to the sender a request for a summary if you are interested in the answer.) The same thing is right this second going on on info-nets with a deluge of 'how do I send to my friend at host X'. A similar suggestion was made be their moderator. On the other hand, these answers sometimes dredge up interesting responses that are wizardly. With freedom comes responsibility. -Barry Shein, Boston University
