I am about to begin development of a system written in C that must handle a large amount of data. I am aware of a number of DBMS systems for UNIX-- Unify, Informix, Ingres, Oracle, C-Tree, etc. I need to pick one that will work well on a 386 running AT&T Unix V. The most important objective is transaction speed (for query transactions), followed closely by ease of programming (by professional C programmers), then speed for update transactions. Can anyone offer advice on making such a selection? Are there any recent benchhmarks I should read about? -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Bander, Tidewater Consultants, Inc., Virginia Beach, VA Internet: bander@cs.odu.edu Ma Bell: (804) 497-8951 USnail: 160 Newtown Rd. #415 Va.
