I am just learning FoxBASE (I have experience with other RDBMS packages, though not on the Mac), and I can't figure out how to do something (or even if it can be done). Using relational terminology: I have a table which contains several fields which are foreign keys to other tables. These are mostly for lookup purposes -- to ensure that legal values are entered into the main table. I want to use other tables to contain the lookup values rather than a "valid expression" because 1) the tables can be large, and 2) their content is dynamically growing and may be site-dependent. However, I also want to be able to pop-up a lookup form that contains the list of valid values, and/or allows the user to do context lookups on the list of valid values for that field. Does any one know how to do this in FoxBASE+/Mac 2.0? I could do this in 10 minutes in Unify/Accell, but it doesn't run on the Mac. Alternatively, we are not wedded to FoxBASE, are there any other multi-user (preferably relational) database products on the Mac that can do that kind of thing? I would need good performance as well as good UI support. Please reply by e-mail (I don't regularly read comp.sys.mac). If there is enough interest in the answers, I will summarize to the net. -- Scott Henry <scotth@sgi.com> | Tardis Express -- when it Information Services, | absolutely, positively Silicon Graphics, Inc | has to be there -- yesterday.
