Is anybody running ORACLE 6.0 on a UNIX system, especially Ultrix 3.1? We seem to be having several problems with it, and all of the problems sound "new" to Oracle Support. I would like to know how many people are using it, and what your experience has been. For the record, we are upgrading from 5.1.17 to 6.0.26 as part of all this, and a few of our problems are related to functionality changes they've made. However, I still feel like 6.0 is a very shaky product. Would anybody care to comment? Send e-mail, and if there's enough interest I'll summarize. Some of the problems we're having: 1. Using a raw disk partition causes database corruptions and Ultrix panics. [Actually, this looks like an Ultrix problem, but it is very serious.] 2. Several Pro*C programs dying with signal 13 (SIGPIPE) or the error "Unexpected oracle server termination by signal 14", during database accesses. 3. SQL*Forms Post-Change Triggers failing immediately following a COMMIT, but succeeding on the second try. 4. Imports of 5.1 databases occasionally getting internal errors. Not very fun from where I've been setting. Oracle Support has been of mixed help. In particular, I've been waiting on problem number 2 for 24 hours now with no response, even though I've told them it is critical and effectively makes our database useless. (I just logged my fourth call asking for some help...) Any insight on these problems would also be appreciated. -- Mike Bryan, Applied Computing Devices, 100 N Campus Dr, Terre Haute IN 47802 Phone: 812/232-6051 FAX: 812/231-5280 Home: 812/232-0815 UUCP: uunet!acd4!mjb INTERNET: mjb%acd4@uunet.uu.net "Agony is born of desire; that's what you get for wanting." --- Moev
