I'm looking for a text retrieval database package for a news storage/
retrieval system. The package will need to store and retrieve articles
of varying length (anything from a few lines, to several pages). The
total size of the database will be upwards of 50Mbytes.
The package needs the following features:
- search by date, title, and keywords
- search for any word appearing anywhere in the article text
- search by catagory (articles are put in single catagories
which describes the main content)
- display of context of search hits in articles
- plus the usual and, or, not, less than, greater than etc
operators
It would also be nice if some kind of compression could be used, saving
disk space.
Source code would also be a plus.
I'm interested in both non-commercial/public domain and commercial packages.
The package will need to run under Xenix or Unix 386 and should be
FAST.
