Does any one know of a free/shareware DBASE program (FOX or DB3 I'll take clipper too) that manages a small scale book/tape library say about 5000 items. I am interested in features such as tracking check-in and check-out of material, print labels, provide serialization and may be some reports. Please e-mail (or post). Thank you.

Would anyone be kind to provide good sources (books, articles, papers...) for how one should approach the problem of designing a numbering or identification scheme say for a small church library system (15,000 books). I am interested if it would discuss the benefits and drawbacks of several techniques regarding flexibility, uniqueness, readability, compactness, popularity of these serialization schemes.
