[comp.databases] LARGE Distributed Databases

Indiana University is evaluating distributed database systems capable
of handling gigabytes of data.  Required features include:
client/server, TCP/IP, multiple platforms (UNIX, VMS, MVS or VM, DOS,
MAC), and ANSI SQL.

What relational databases fit this criteria?  What are the pros and
cons?  What have been your experiences?  Has anyone seen any studies
on this topic?
