I am looking for a relational database package in which I can write applications that can be compiled under either Macintosh or MS-DOS systems with minimal modifications. I have applications that have to run under both systems, and I'd like to be able to do the development work once. I'm aware that Foxbase has a product for both systems, and was told that the code is portable if the programmer is careful not to use system dependent things. Has anyone had any experience writing code with Foxbase for both systems? How much re-writing is necessary to transfer it from one to the other? What other relational database packages will allow you to write applications that can be compiled under either the Macintosh or MS-DOS? What are some of the advantages/disadvantages of these packages? Please respond via e-mail, and I will summarize on the net. +------------------------------------+-------------------------------+ | Brian Webster | Disclaimer: | | EXNET Programmer/Analyst | These are my own opinions | | Iowa State University Extension | and not necessarily those | | webster@atanasoff.cs.iastate.edu | of my employer. | +------------------------------------+-------------------------------+
