We are finally getting an Oracle release 6 system up on our Sequent Symmetry (Dynix 3.0.12). Our system runs Yellow Pages and fewer than 1% of our login ids are in the local password file (/etc/passwd). The remainder are in the Yellow Pages passwd table. It might be significant to note that our Sequent is not a YP server. In any case, any attempt by a user whose account is only in the YP table yields the following message: ORA-07268: spgun: getpwuid error. It seems pretty obvious to me that the version of getpwuid linked In with SQL*Plus is not the version that supports Yellow Pages. Am I right? Is there a way around this? The products in use are: SQL*Plus 3.0.6.2.1 Oracle Kernel 6.0.26.9.1 I have reported this to Oracle's help line, but it never hurts to cover all the bases. If this fault is clearly documented in the Oracle for Sequent installation manual - I appologize in advance, I am currently without such a manual. On a related topic - does anyone out there run Oracle on a system which uses MIT's kerberous authentication package. If so, what version and did you have any problems? Thanks in advance. - Scott -- This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
