A colleague of mine is having difficulty converting a spreadsheet file in Symphony v1.1 to a dBASE IV database file using the Lotus conversion utility. He has a 50 character column which, when converted, truncates to only 25 characters. He has checked the description of his conversion file, and it says clearly that it should be 50 characters wide. We would appreciate any help figuring out where the problem might be. Paul Larned Larned@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu

If you're having trouble getting Symphony to export to dBASE, why not have dBASE IV import the data instead? We support WKS and WK1 Lotus 1-2-3 files--I'm not sure what Symphony uses, but I imagine it can export to 1-2-3 in the worst case. Symphony can probably also export to ASCII, various flavors of which dBASE IV can read. If you speak French and I speak English and all we have are English to Spanish and French to Spanish dictionaries...:-). Hope it helps. /alastair/
