>The maximum number of records you can have in a Paradox database is 2 >billion. I imagine that you ran out of disk space and did not really >exceed the record limit. Corrupted databases can sometimes display symptoms >that you mentioned and can sometimes be fixed running the TUTILITY.EXE >program that comes with Paradox... Paradox is indeed quite slow, especially loading time (as are many Borland applications...Quattro Pro, anyone?? :-> ). I once tried to put paradox and a 700+ record database into a RAMDISK to speed things up a bit, but the database file became so corrupt that not even TUTILITY could fix it up!!! Anyone have a clue as to why this happens? Also, could someone tell me about the magazine Data Base Advisor mentioned in a previous posting? Is it worth the subscription price? What kinds of things does it cover? How do I subscribe? I cant find a copy at any of the bookstores/dealers in town. Perhaps if you called the company they would do a similar for you. Can't help you out with any more info as I through it out.

Data Based Advisor Data Based Solutions, Inc. 4010 Morena Blvd., Suite 200 San Diego, CA 92117 (619) 483-6400 1 Year (12 issues): US $35, Canada/Mexico $45, Overseas $65 I think the magazine is excellent. It's about 180 glossy color pages each month, covering dBASE, Fox, Clipper, DataEase, Paradox--all the MS-DOS database systems, with an emphasis (it seems) on application development. My favorite feature is Russ Freeland's column on the back page, personally, but maybe that's because I get the in jokes. By the way, the prices are from a 6-month-old issue; they may have gone up. The other magazine to get is DBMS, which I don't have the information for. DBMS seems to come at it more from the Oracle, Ingres point of view and occasionally discusses MS-DOS systems. Kind of like this newsgroup :-). Hope it helps. /alastair/
