I just couldn't resist...
Thursday, I received the long awaited flyer for the 1990 International Oracle
User Week in Anaheim, California. An impressive flyer...filled with bios about
guest speakers, seminar abstracts and complete information regarding hotel
accomodations. Here's the clincher...
"Register now and save!"
"When you register by June 30, you'll save $100 on the basic
conference rate of $875, or $100 on the 'All in One' travel
package. Both rates cover all International Oracle User
Week sponsored programs, presentations and special events."
Let's see, I received this flyer on Thursday, June 28. To save a few hundred
bucks in registration fees (what's a few hundred bucks nowadays?), this leaves
me one and one half (work) days to immediately put down everything that I'm
doing to...
a) convince my boss that this would be a great event for me
and other(s) of my dedicated co-workers to attend
b) discuss the listed hotel plans with my boss (which are
significantly out of my per diem rate)
c) get approval from Corporate (on the west coast) after a
positive response from my boss
and
d) make those reservations before I have to pay more $$$
Thanks be to modern technology and understanding bosses, I am registered and
ready to rock-n-roll in beautiful Anaheim. See y'all there...
PS: For those who are interested in receiving a copy of the promo poster
inside the flyer, send a SAE to me at the Center. For all of those
who haven't seen it, it's a picture of a surfer dude holding a keyboard
and a surfboard. (I was always wondering what they REALLY did in
Belmont...#%^o )
