[comp.databases] Recital Inquiry

saunders@carina.unm.edu (Richard Saunders CIRT) (07/10/90)

   Hello, DBMS'ers:

Our company currently writes applications in Clipper for MeSs-DOS and
we're thinking of going to a real OS like *nix, and we've heard (and seen
ads) that "Recital" is the thing to get. Has anyone used Recital? Any
opinions/info would be helpful. A user comment is worth a hundred ads...

We are currently in the process of evaluating "Recital" on a VAX VMS
system.

The support and response by the "Recital" staff has been excellent.
They answer your questions promptly and when they say they will get
back to you, they do.

As far as "Recital" itself: It actually feels, looks, and tastes like
dBASE. We changed their "Dot Prompt" which is a ">" to the familiar
"." and you can't tell that you are not in dBASE on your PC.

So far so good. We'll let you know what we decide..
