CCNewsgroups: comp.databases I would like any information on the db_VISTA product and its new db_QUERY product. Its a product that can be linked with your C program. The db_QUERY claims to be SQL-based which seems to be the emerging standard in database query. They also claim to have multiuser versions. I would like to know about any benckmarks especially vs. dBase III and Focus. Thank You. chrisw

I received around 8 glowing replies highly recommending db_VISTA. Since then my colleagues and myself evaluated db_VISTA, MDBS IV, Ingres, and Informix under DOS. We have decided to use db_VISTA to develop a major database application. We will also be porting the application to SunOS UNIX. So far db_VISTA seems like an excellent database manager with a reasonable SQL interface. It is highly flexible to work with because it is a C library, much better than an imbedded language. Hopefully I'll have a lot more positive comments in a few months. Eric -- [] Eric B. It seems that most folks are into the DOS version of that product only, though. We use it for both DOS and Xenix/UNIX application work. All work is done under Xenix. I've previously asked whether anyone was interested in a vista mail list but the DOS folks have access to their vista bulletin board -- Fred Rump | UUCP: {uunet dsinc}!cdin-1!fred CompuData, Inc. | "Beware of cats for they are subtle and will .... on 10501 Drummond Rd. | your computer."
