I'm looking for references to books or papers on how to go about gathering the information needed to design a data model for a company. For instance, you're dropped into a company to design a company wide data model. Who do you interview? What questions do you ask them? How do you convert the vague handwaving you get into data items, entities, relationships, etc? I've heard this referred to as data or systems analysis. Any references you have to books or papers covering this would be appreciated. Thank you, -- Brian L. Matthews blm@6sceng.UUCP
