Does anyone have experience in developing PROGRESS applications and/or running them on multiple platforms (e.g. VMS, DOS LANS, UNIX, etc.)? I'd be interested in hearing about the database engine, the 4GL toolset, and in experiences porting from one platform to another. Reply by mail and I will summarize to the net. Yup, we have several applications which are sold on Dos, Lans, Xenix, Unix, Leanix, Moonix, and we have several threats for Vms. Porting is a snap, especially in version 5. We have written scripts which just about do it in our sleep. The ability to xcode your source means you only need a run-time on each machine. (PS: remember to xcode the source for dbrestrict too) We develop on Xenix and use Vp/ix to produce the DOS stuff; as a matter of fact, the DOS progress compiler reads the Xenix source code just fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Neal Rhodes MNOP Ltd (404)- 972-5430 President Lilburn (atlanta) GA 30247 Fax: 978-4741 emory!mnopltd!neal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
