[comp.databases] Postgres 2.0 is now available

kemnitz@POSTGRES.BERKELEY.EDU (Greg Kemnitz) (07/31/90)

Version 2, release 0 of POSTGRES is now available for
distribution. It is known to run on Versions 3.4, 3.5, 3.6,
or 4.0 of SUN OS for Sun 3/xxx class machines, on DECstation
3100 machines, on Sparcstations, and on Sequent Symmetry machines.
Postgres consists of about 180,000 lines of C.

If you would like the current system, you can get it in
one of two ways:

(1) Send a check payable to the Regents of the University
     of California for $150.00 to:

		 Postgres Project
         521 Evans Hall
         University of California
         Berkeley, CA 94720.

Indicate in your accompanying letter whether you want
the system on a 9-track tape at 1600 BPI, at 6250 BPI,
on a cartridge tape for SUN shoeboxes (QIC 24 format),
or on a TK50 DEC cartridge tape.

(2) FTP the code to your site over the net by typing
the following bracketed text without brackets. You
     should see similar output.

There is also a third way: for all Postgres fans in Europe. You can get
Postgres 2, release 0 from iamsun.unibe.ch [130.92.64.10]. You'll find it
in ~ftp/Databases/Postgres

we assume that you're all aware that postgres 2.0 is now available, and
apologize for the wasted net bandwidth involved in sending out three
copies of the message. a news software hiccup here meant that we didn't
see them locally until several days after the first was posted.
