Hi folks, Has anyone heard of a dbms called 'Btrieve'? I know that they are owned by Novell, and the product is used in a number of applications such as Platinum accounting software. Does anyone know if there is a Xenix/Unix version? If so, ever heard whether it is any good or not? Thanks! -Rick uunet!crash!eysd!rick

We use it for front ending SQL sessions on our mainframes, don't know if it is good for anything else... E-mail me if you want more info and I'll open up the manual for you. To quote the netware btrieve 5.0 manual: "If an application at a workstation makes Btrieve requests to both a local (nonshared) drive and a network (shared) drive, a copy of either Btrieve Single User or Btrieve for DOS 3.1 Networks must be loaded at that workstation, as well as BREQUEST." I just tried it and it seemed to work fine. Mike Weeks Wicat Systems, Inc. ...!uplherc!wicat!michael or michael@wicat.UUCP
