[comp.databases] Updating VMS 4.7 to 5.3-1: Ingres 5.0 does not work anymore

jukka@tukki.jyu.fi (Jukka Hartikainen) (08/10/90)

Hi there.
I have a one problem with Ingres 5.0/04. It is in the VAX 8650 and the OS
is now VMS 5.3-1, before it was 4.7.

There is one Ingres-executable which does not work. Ingresins-script gets
the error-messages
"failed to create entry for
DISK$VAXVMSRL4:<SYS0.SYSCOMMOn.SYSLIB>IISYSSERV.EXE" and
"system version missmatch - please relink"
All the other exes work well, this sysserv.exe is the problem.

What shall I do?? Relink what? There is no sources...

We just went thru that ourselves. June 11 we went to VMS 5.3. We
had to go to INGRES V6.3. What a fiasco!! The INGRES version was not
compatible with vms 4.7. In order to do the INGRES conversion, we had
to bring one node up at VMS 5.2. Ask for the bug fix for INGRES 6.3
when you get it. Otherwise if you have a sudden power loss, the iidbdb
(formerly dbdb) gets corrupted. One of the many 'new features' of
INGRES.
