Many thanks for those who sent me additional references for commercial
OODBs.  I have included them in the list and have added some of the
descriptive information that was sent along.  Once again, if anyone
has more to add to the list please pass it along.  It would be nice
to add more information about each product such as platforms supported,
languages, system requirements, and other features.  Perhaps if any of
these companies are reading this article they can respond with more
data :).

INFORMATION:
DOME is an inherently distributed system of several Mac workstations,
at least one DEC VAX and instruments or other electronically controllable
devices such as CAM.  The VAX runs a database resource that is an OO
encapsulation of ORACLE under VMS.  The Macs run either the standard DOME
Navigator (a generic browser) or application specific GUIs based on HyperDOME
(HyperCard with DOME messaging extensions).

INFORMATION:
We are designing O2, an OODBMS with its complete graphical development
environment.  We have a prototype since sept 89 which is used by ~10 french
companies and ~30 universities and research centers all over the world.
(Ask us, there is perhaps a site near you if you want to see it)
Beta-test of the product are scheduled for Nov 90, and product for
1st semester 91.  We will exhibit at OOPSLA in October (Ottawa, Canada).
It can be a good opportunity to meet us. Anyway, if you need further
information, feel free to mail/fax me.  We have several papers describing
our company and project, and also technical reports.
We have also published in conferences like VLDB, SIGMOD, ....
Francois Bancilhon, ALTAIR's Director, is also one of the authors of
