Our department is looking for prospective graduate students [thesis and non-thesis M.S., and Ph.D's]. We have printed a poster to send to university departments with likely candidates for our program, however we need to 1) identify universities with likely candidates, and 2) mail the information packets. Currently, our secretary is looking through publications with names like "Index of Majors", etc. and dreading the thought of manually copying 1500 departmental names/addresses into the computer. There must be a database accessible to IBM-compatibles or via on-line interaction that we can search for information (perhaps something available via anonymous ftp?). I'm reasonably adept at writing programs to deal with any sort of data format, so coercing the data into a final acceptable format is not a concern. Having to pay for a commercial information service is not in the budget, but if the price isn't too steep we might be able to swing it. This is probably not a general interest item, so please send replies to me via e-mail.
