The new code must then be linked into the DBMS. Inheritance, polymorphism, clustered object storage, and atomic treatment of complex objects are not provided. Neither is a seamless interface to an OOPL. This does NOT give you an OODBMS, as a product review of Versant, GemStone, or ObjectStore will reveal. It can be a powerfull extension to the relational model, however. Ingres should have avoided the misused "O" word. What they really give you is more like an ADT facility. -- Gordon S.
