Would anyone please be able to let me know (Please post to my e-mail address)
whether there is a 'C' interface to DB 3 or DB 4. Basically, what I am looking for
is to write some application software that will have 'C' routines using the
Microsoft 'C' compiler and the DB facilities and link them together. The problem
I am trying to solve is as follows:
1. Info is received via the RS232 port of a PC. This info is placed in to
c structures and written to a file (flat database)
2. Run a DB application that will extract info from the above files of
c structures and produce reports.
3. both processes are run to gether (either as a single program, with priority to 1,
or with 1 being memory resident (how ?? ) and with higher priority.
i.e. 2 will be "interrupted" (i.e. halted in its current state of execution)
while 1 is being serviced, then carrying on with 2 etc.
Also, would anyone know whether I could get the data from the rs232 (in point 1)
straight in to DB 3 (or 4) format rather than go through intermediate c structures.
Please post to my e-mail address.
I am posting this to several news groups. I shall collate any useful info received
and post to "comp.sys.ibm.pc". at some stage.
many thanks in anticipation.
