We have recently purchased Informix on a large
Encore and we are interested in 3rd party tools
which might work with Informix to
o add typesetting to our reports,
o facillitate creation of input screens, and
o facillitate creation of reports.
Informix itself has both a report writer and a form
generator which aren't bad, but they fall far short of
what one might expect if one were creating screens and documents
on a Macintosh, for example.
Do 3rd parties provide 4GL code generators for Informix better
than the ones Informix provides?
How do people get typeset reports out of Informix? Stick in
(yuk) troff commands (oh, brother... Welcome to 1978...).
