[comp.databases] SAS in combination with RDBMS or C

ronald@integow.uucp (Ronald Wopereis) (12/11/90)

Dear SAS users,

On my previous call regarding a combination of SAS and RDBMS
I received not a single answer. I would expect at least the
people from SAS to react.

Am I wrong, or is this just the wrong product to buy, if one
wants to use a statistical package with graphics and a reporting
facility in combination with a Unify database ?

Since the Unify database can be accessed from the language 'C',
I was wondering if and to what extent SAS has the same capability.

Hopefully , I'll get at least one response this time.

SAS has a product called ACCESS that may work with your RDBMS. We
tried it with ORACLE, but the interface was buggy (it would only
allow *one* connection to the database before logging out).
BTW ORACLE claims this bug.

SAS does not have an 3GL interface, except that SAS can call executable
programs written in other languages.

Other than SAS*ACCESS, a 'flat-file' interface may be your only
course of action.
