We are working on a very large database project here using Oracle. One of the sites where we are going to deliver this product uses Ingres and wants us to convert the system from Oracle to Ingres. We of course prefer not doing this given the time it will take and future maintenance hassles of two versions. It's now unfortunately looking like we will need to convert. Our system is very large and has the following attributes: 1) Code must run on Unix (Sun) and a VAX VMS environment. 2) We have THOUSANDS of lines of dynamic SQL code that will need to be converted. 3) Our system has over 500 different tables which are created from an automatically generated script file. Has anyone done something like this? I would appreciate any comments on moving this kind of system from Oracle to Ingres. If there is interest I will post the a summary of the comments.
