OK, I'll bite! We have not yet utilized the Ingres Star product, however, we have proposed a project to a Federal agency which would use the Ingres star product in the following manner. In this configuration each data base can be maintained (updated, appended, etc) by a separate CPU but utilized by each CPU to obtain the `final product' as defined by DataBase 1. The distribution and `certification' of DataBase 1 can be controlled by the Federal agency while the distribution and certification of each contributing project can be controlled by the individual project managers. Each of the DataBases can be configured to optimize data management of the individual environmental projects and contractors. (BTW: I would assume Oracle has a similar product that could be used.)
