I need assistance extracting data from a Data General (AOS) Infos II, dbam and isam file. I would like to export the data to ascii files such that I could import the data to an Ultrix/Ingres database. My real problem is extracting the data from the Data General. I have looked through the DG manuals in hopes of finding a utility to do the job. However, I have been unsuccessful to date. Can anyone give me assistance with this task. Is there a utility available? Do I need to write code such as Fortran or DG/L? -- John E. McCormack Mile-High Information Services Inc. 9101 East Kenyon, Suite 3400, Denver Co 80237 uunet!mhinfo!jem

Thanks for the response. We have no DG expertise here and we do not know the layout of the data in the INFOs files. Our customer also does not have the sort/merge utility, so we are borrowing a machine. We need to find out if using sort/merge is straightforward - especially when we do NOT know the data layout... Can you help us answer this question by giving me a feel for what sort/merge will require in 1. knowledge of data structure, 2. actual steps/syntax. -- Deborah Bishop (uunet!mhinfo!bishop) Mile High Information Services Suite 3400 9101 E.
