To my request for infomation on removing user accounts completely from an Oracle database, I got reponse from esteffen@bs.id.ethz.ch saying that I should remove entries from the table sys.user$ and sys.tsq$. I tried this and got into trouble when I immediatly tried to recreate the account (Oracle internal error). A call to Oracle said that said that 1) User info is cached in memory when the database is up, and doesn't do consistency checking since since those tables aren't expected to change. 2) This is not a supported activity. Perhaps if I had shut the database down immediatly after deleteing the accounts, it might have worked. In the future I may try this, but for now, I'll recycle the old accounts to new users rather than trying to remove them. -- I want a GOOD reason with some moral backbone why Americans are dying in the Mid East.
