I need some advice on choosing a database package for the following problem. We are looking at developing a fund accounting system for our Athletics department. We need it initially to be compatible with Lan Manager and DOS. In the future we would like to be able to run it on both the Mac platform and perhaps Unix. An additional requirement is that we need an ad-hoc type reporting tool that the department manager can use to create special reports occasionally. This department manager uses packages like 123 and Nutshell so the report creation has to be fairly painless. Speed and interface is also important of course. The ideal package would have screen painting tools for handling the creation of entry forms. I am open to any suggestions. I have been told that Foxbase is a possibility. Any comments on this?
