I have a need for a text retrieval database system which would have say 5000 records each divided into groups of text (a paragraph each) and a few simple indexable fields. This would need to be accessable by any non-trivial word in a chosen text group and by normal index, possibly with combined queries. A second requirement is that it run on probably a PC, or possibly a VAX running VMS. Has anyone heard of such a beast? If so, please email me at sandy@mullauna.cs.mu.OZ.au Thank you, Sandy Dance, Computer Science, Melbourne University

I recently researched a couple of different databases for newspapers. And though there are many differerent implementations I liked the BRS search product most. It is a completely free text database with no limits you can speak of. You can contact them in England at (44) 1 580 5271. The only problem is that they are a bit expensive. Peter Kriens
