[comp.databases] Can my C program access Clarion Files?

BKC@draco.erc.clarkson.edu (Brad Clements) (02/23/91)

The subject says it all. I have Clarion, and I like it. However
I need to write a C application that writes directly to Clarion files.

Does anyone know how I can accomplish this? I'm thinking along the
lines of something similar to the Paradox Engine.

I called Clarion to ask about a programmer's database library
for Clarion, and the sales droid practically told me to drop dead.

"Don't have one, Won't Have one. No, you can't speak to the product
    manager to suggest it." Etc.

I seem to recall reading on this list that Clarion is based on a well
known C-Tree like database package. Can someone refer me to this
package?

My only other choice is to find a database system that.

    1. Has a programmer's library
    2. Can create stand-alone .exe programs
    3. Does not have a royalty system.

Unfortunately Paradox looses out.

Thanks.
