Dear Friends: I am looking for an accounting application program running on PC's or Mac's that is specific to non-profit organizations. I prefer a Macintosh environment, but will surely entertain any PC-based solutions. The site in question is a local chapter of a national organization with about 400 members. The Treasurer has about 40 charts of accounts, and of course he does everything manually. Their needs are as follows: - Absolutely double entry capability. A lot of Fund Transfer activities from one account to another. - Ability to automatically update income, expense journals when issuing a check. - Ability to create a chart of account for each member. - Mailing label printing capabilities. - Liabilities and asset tracking not necessary, but will be nice to have such features. - Prefer source code in a dBASE flavor since we are familiar with this 4gl. Does any body out there know of a single user application to handle above? How about commercially available packages? We would prefer a vertical market package so that we would be able to modify the code if we had to. The users are all new to computer world. Therefore, user friendliness, and an intuitive screen interface are very important factors in the decision making process. I know very few developers spend a lot of time in designing straightforward interfaces in the accounting programs, nevertheless, the above desire is required in this project. Thanks in advance for your feedback. I will post a summary, if this tread turns out to be an interesting topic for the group. Regards, Hooshyar F. NAraghi AR.HFN@forsythe.stanford.stu (415) 324-1055
