Hi,
I am currently working on Large Join Query Optimization (LJQOP) using Genetic
Algorithms. I am having trouble in identifying a suitable Cost function so
that I will be able to complete the project by the end of next month. I have
figured out the basic mechanics of the problem (i. e. representation, cross-over
and mutation process etc) but i am not able to find a cost function that is
simple and effective enough, given the time frame.
I have gone thro' the literature and found the work reported by Swami & Guptha
[SIGMOD 88] and Swami [SIGMOD 89] very interesting. I am also interested in the
cost function that they have used and would like to have more information about
it. At least, i would like to have the e-mail addresses of either of the two
authors.
I would appreciate if anybody can provide some pointers like, papers, journal
articles, transaction papers, personal notes etc.
