  Topic: Object Oriented Databases

It seems that everything is turning up object oriented these
days. What started as an innovative view of programming
paradigms is catching on in a variety of areas of the computer
industry. Perhaps the area that most directly affects the end
        user is the database arena.

Our speaker will present the features of object oriented
databases, contrasting these features to those of more
traditional relational database products. He will also describe
the types of applications where object oriented databases are
being used, explaining why this technology is required to
satisfy the requirements of these applications. As an example
of the technology, he will demonstrate an object database that
combines graphical engineering data with hierarchical
manufacturing data. Along with that application, he will
demonstrate Studio and DBDesigner, Ontologic's object database
        application development tools.

Who: W. Edward White, Ontologic, Inc.

Ed White is the Regional Manager for Ontologic, a supplier of
object oriented databases for UNIX workstations. Much of Ed's
professional career has focused on database issues and products.
Prior to joining Ontologic, Ed worked for Oracle Corporation,
where he worked with MasterVARs, VARs and system integrators.
Previous to that, he worked with Gupta Technologies and IBM,
where he dealt with a variety of SQL products.
