We are beginning our quest to investagate alternate database programs that offer the ability to cross *easily* between DOS (3.3 and above), UNIX/xenix, and IBM's AIX (rs6000). In "cross" we mean that you can develop on one of the above OS's and without much or any code change recompile or port to other OS's in the above list. Currently we are using Small Computer's filePro. We have no plans on abandoning this, we are expanding and seek info from other experienced dbms programmers. The DBMS should, in addition to the above requirements, have: 1) 4GL type interface 2) Tenure of success in business 3) Can link to C front and back ends 4) Has resonable runtime license arrangement 5) Excellent technical support department 6) Fast speed, unrestrictive limits on files, screens, reports, etc. 7) Security from a user and programmer standpoint. Please reply via email, (and post if you think this is useful for others) Thank you all in advance!
