[comp.databases] Mailing list for Oracle?

jessea@hbmc.uucp (Jesse W. Asher) (03/28/91)

Is there any kind of newsgroup or mailing list for Oracle related
products out there? I would like to participate if so. Thanx for any
help.

There are two I know of. Both are hosted by LISTSERV software (a
sophisticated mail-exploder/file-server for VM systems on bitnet).

Since the list-descriptions I retrieved didn't explain the scope
(Oracle for VM/MVS/VMS/Unix/MSDOS/OS2 or combinations), it would
be best to contact the list-owners for information. Neither mailing
list is moderated.

List 1: (this list has 324 subscribers currently)
ORACLE-L@SBCCVM.BITNET |
ORACLE-L%SBCCVM@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU | the same place
ORACLE-L@CCVM.SUNYSB.EDU |

That address is for postings.

To subscribe, send mail to LISTSERV@(one-of-the-above-addresses)
in the body put 'sub oracle-l Jesse Asher'. To unsubscribe, send
mail to LISTSERV, put 'unsub oracle-l' in the body.

By default, LISTSERV lists don't echo postings back to the poster.
They do send a confirmation message that your mail has been distrib-
uted. In addition, LISTSERV uses a sophisticated backbone mechanism
to distribute the mailing load among the 100+ LISTSERVs installed on
bitnet.

The human contact for this list is sk@(one-of-the-above-addresses).

List 2: (this list has 109 members)

L-ORACLE@UQAM.BITNET | the same place
L-ORACLE%UQAM@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU |

This is the address for postings. To subscribe, send e-mail to
LISTSERV@(one-of-the-above-addresses). This is the same software
running at SBCCVM, you subscribe the same way.

The human contact for this list is s22054@(one-of-the-above-addresses).
