We have written a rather extensive (30,000+ lines) multi-user application in SCO FoxBase+ under SCO Xenix 2.3.2 running on a 12 MHz 286 (AT) class computer. Due to inherent system speed limitations, and various "bugs" we have discovered in FoxBase+, we are extreamly interested in converting the program into C with calls to a dBase library to handle the database specific functions, allowing the final application to be compiled in a "tried and true" language. We even went so far as to develop some preliminary development models for such a library that we could write ourselves. (Yet another vaporware product, so far...*sigh* ) We saw an add in a magazine for CodeBase 4.2, which claims to be such a library. Have you or someone you know ever used this product? Considering the sizable amount of work needed to convert the application we would like to get some reviews of this software before attempting the conversion. Specifically, does Codebase 4.2 run under SCO Xenix 2.3.2? Does it work as it claims, providing a library of routines that can be compiled into a final program? Have you (or someone you know) ever encountered any problems using it? Is the documentation that accompanies the package adequate to meet the needs of someone who already knows how to use dBase type languages? (In several instances, we found the documentation with SCO FoxBase less than desirable in its explainations.) We sincerely appreciate any information you could give us on this product (as do our customers!).
