I'm running through a preliminary analysis for an application involving multiuser(2) update/query. The app is going to be quite simple : relations into 2 or 3 databases; indexed lookups on files with <1000 records. XENIX came to mind as a suitable O/S that would allow the program to be put together with a minimum of fuss and at a reasonable cost. I'd like to look at Foxpro (they do have a XENIX version don't they?) since my backgroud is with dBase and I don't have the time right now to learn SQL. I'm not looking for definitive answers here: does anyone have any stories (horror, comedy, tragedy or otherwise) regarding Foxpro apps running under XENIX? How fast is fast? i.e. how much of a punch can you expect a 386/25 to pack? 33MHz? i486 variants? I'll do platform benchtests later, but a reference frame would be useful. Thanks, Paul Gallagher
