I am trying to get the OS/2 version of Gupta SQLGateway for Oracle to actually work. I am running ver 1.1.6.7 of SQL*Net TCP/IP to talk to a remote oracle 6.0.27 database (running on a SUN Sparcstaion). SQL*PLUS has no problem communicating from OS/2. However, the gateway refuses to connect, it claims it can't spawn ORAGW0. The people at Gupta tell me I need a file called ORA6.DLL, which they claim is an Oracle product and therefore not their problem. I can not find this on any of the Oracle OS/2 product disks we have, they are all version 5.1c. I was told 5.1c is the latest release of Oracle for OS/2 though it sure sounds like ORA6.DLL is a version 6 file. My questions are: Has anyone ever actually seen a Gupta gateway to Oracle work on OS/2? Does anyone know anything about this ORA6.DLL file? How can a company like Gupta sell a product and not tell me (or even seem to be able to tell me) EXACTLY what I need to run it. -- OLIVE JR,GEORGE A Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 uucp: ...!{decvax,hplabs,ncar,purdue,rutgers}!gatech!prism!go3 Internet: go3@prism.gatech.edu

ok In a message, go3@prism.gatech.EDU (OLIVE JR,GEORGE A) says: > I am trying to get the OS/2 version of Gupta SQLGateway for Oracle > to actually work ... He goes on to say: > Has anyone ever actually seen a Gupta gateway to Oracle work > on OS/2? I am an employee of Gupta (I am biased) but I have observed it working many times. So have other customers who bought the product. > Does anyone know anything about this ORA6.DLL file? It comes with version 6 of the OS/2 Oracle server. Possibly, it may be packaged with other future Oracle products. In your message, you say that "I was told 5.1c is the latest release of Oracle for OS/2". Version 6 is the latest release for OS/2. > How can a company like Gupta sell a product and not tell me > (or even seem to be able to tell me) EXACTLY what I need to > run it. Stacia Sambar in Tech Support did tell you what you need, but she did not know what Oracle product it came with. That is why we have more than one way of communicating with our customers (such as the Gupta BBS or Usenet). We are talking to Oracle about packaging ORA6.DLL with SQLGateway/Oracle.
