Title: Member of Technical Staff Organization: Kendall Square Research Corporation Description: Join small team in adapting and enhancing a 3rd-party DBMS system for the KSR parallel machine. Design and implement significant modifications to DBMS software to leverage hardware parallelism. Skills: Knowledge of relational DBMS internals (e.g., query optimization, concurrency control, access methods, relational operators, external APIs) is essential. Unix and C skills are important. Experience with any or all of these areas would be very helpful: parallel machines, performance evaluation, application development tools, software porting, and transaction processing systems. MS in CS preferred, or equivalent experience. Ideal candidate: will have a track record of successful design and implementation of innovative commercial products in a database-oriented environment, with 6 or more years of experience. S/he should be a creative software designer, a strong, hands-on implementor, a team player able to work independently as well, and a good communicator. S/he should welcome challenge and complexity in a very focussed and professional environment.
