My setup is as follows : I have an Oracle database on our Vax-6350 running VMS and an Informix database on a '386 computer running Interactive Unix. The Vax is running Oracle's SQL-NET/TCP/IP and the '386 has TCP/IP support. Would it be possible to run Sql-Net/TCP/IP on the '386 and let the Informix application actually access the Oracle database on the Vax ? One possible solution would be to write a translation program to translate from Informix Sql calls to the Oracle's Sql-net calls but I think it would be to much trouble. Another solution would be to unload the data from the Oracle database to a file, ftp it to the '386 and load it again there but then the Informix application wouldn't have the "newest" data. (Our data is constantly changing) Has anyone any suggestions or solutions ? Please e-mail to me and I will summarize if there is any interest.
