Hi! Anyone have any experiences or insights they are willing to share on the value of application generators for X-base code? Is it possible to maintain applications from the generators themselves or do they require intensive 'tweaking'? Any specific products that you would recommend? We are exploring the following idea...using productivity tools in the form of prototyping, appl generators, doc generators, etc. on the PC where the tools are cheap(er) and then port the source to a VAX or Unix mini (using Recital or q*base). Was wondering, though, the viability of maintaining them from the high level interface of the generators. CASE type tools on the mini's and mainframe's, besides being prohibitively expensive, often come unraveled into the maintenance of the actual source code (which make the automation kind of worthless as it rapidly losses track of the changes). Any input appreciated! -Thanks -Kent Cearley -University of Colorado, Boulder
